Description:
The Institute for Alpine Natural Hazards at Boku Vienna is using the MB1659 as part of a project to monitor mudslides and geotechnical processes in alpine regions to record the forces that occur. Our solutions are used in two different monitoring systems that continuously measure thrust and normal force in order to obtain information for the safety and stability of the structures and bodies of water affected.
Project 1: Gadriabach measuring field with mudslide breaker – Northern Italy
In northern Italy, on a critical section of the Gadriabach, a monitoring system was installed that is positioned on a mudslide breaker and the stream bed. MB1659 two-axis force measuring bolts are used to precisely measure thrust, pressure and normal force. These bolts are used to monitor the thrust and pressure forces as well as the normal force in front of the structure. The measurement data is continuously recorded and processed via the HBM data acquisition system (Quantum MX1615 or MGC+).
Project 2: Lattenbach measuring field – Western Austria (Tyrol)
In Western Austria (Tyrol), another monitoring system was installed to monitor the stream bed in the Lattenbach measuring field. A total of eight two-axis measuring bolts are installed here, which also measure thrust, pressure and normal force. The system continuously records data and also uses the HBM Quantum MX1615 or MGC+ recording devices to obtain precise measured values. The data is collected in continuous operation and is triggered for final storage when predefined limit values are exceeded or by external trigger events.
We are proud to contribute to the safety and stability of infrastructure and natural resources with our measurement solutions.
